The "THE GARDEN OF ROSALES" series is an attempt to convey a similar vanitas in antiquity, where the symbols of yesteryear like skulls in flowers and candles mutate, from imitative figurative representation to a more abstract message. In these "modern Vanitas", painted with great economy of resources (mostly are achieved with a color plus black and white), the gloom of old was changed to an open environment where the symbolism of the garden as abode of the soul amalgam with pink fragile and fleeting. These two symbols were selected for being used since ancient times in many different cultures.
