Epic is painted in the hope for a brighter future. First, you must experience "darkness" before you can truly see and recognize what is your "light". Even though "EPIC" is painted in dark colors, I still hope viewers will look at this painting and see the twinkling hope, painted right in the middle of it. The inspiration for this painting arises from the feeling of keeping "head above water" in trouble times, and aiming your focus at the brighter future that will come.

Full name: Elin Helland Born: 1970 Location: Norway Atelie: EH Atelier My works of art are characterized by the present and the past. For the most part, the work reflects my feelings related to life and the minimalist, wild and beautiful coastal landscape where I grew up, and today live. The rough and harsh coastal landscape, its light and colors in duality and contrasts, with yet a soft horizon, has always had - and still has, a great impact on me. When I work on canvas, I like to use different materials and painting techniques. My experiences are told through my art - in mann ways my art mirror my inner life. The visual expression is often recognized through the choice of materials and technique in combination of delicate, light or very dark colors. This creates excitement and drama, while the composition creates balance. The expression is calm yet vibrant, aesthetic and emotionally charged. My years of study of TAO and the theory of Yin and Yang play an important part in my journey. Something that is clearly reflected in my work. The wabi-sabi philosophy and aesthetics, has its roots in Tao and is often characterized as being able to see - and appreciate, the beautiful in asymmetrical "unfinished" and moderated expressions. The philosophical goal of achieving balance, is my guiding light in my creative process. Kindly, Elin
