Early sunday morning Painting

After a night out in the city of Hull (UK) I was looking out from a friend's flat at the street below and was straight away reminded of the Hopper painting - hence the title.  I took some photos and arrived at this composition.  I liked the bright morning sunlight and the shadows on the buildings but also the emptiness of the street which the night before had been full of life.  The sunlight was a contrast to the run down buildings.  There seems to be an expectation that something is going to happen because of the stillness and absence of people.  This is my most realistic painting but its what I thought the scene needed
