Easy Flow Painting

'Easy Flow', a medium size abstract coastal painting on stretched cotton canvas where dark and light tones collide on the sea shore. By the Award Winning Artist, Janet Gammans. Moody and atmospheric, painted in a semi abstract style, this artwork is deep in tone with a rustic but modern quality. The dark blue cloudy sky reflects onto the land of sand, rock and stone where I have used an expressionist form of painterly lines and detail. I find that using acrylic paint with different mediums gives me the effects I need to convey the aspects of uneven, coarse, natural beauty of the landscape. So in my interpretation of painting a subject, I try to maintain the essence of what first inspired me to paint it. For me, what is fundamental in my paintings are light, subtlety of color, harmony, depth and drama, while still staying true to the subject. In my finished work, I hope that I have conveyed to the viewer a sense of mood, which was present at the time of painting it.ʺ The artwork has been painted on stretched primed cotton canvas. The chunky, deep, solid wood frame (floating frame) has a smooth warm white coating of satin finish paint. The face measures 3 cm with the total size measuring 37.5 x 47.5 cm (actual stretched canvas measures 40 x 30 cm). It has been made ready to hang with all fixtures and fittings in place.
