About The Artwork

Inspired by the film Sugar Man and the music from Rodriguez. The work impresses by it´s graphic structure. Stripes reflecting the soundwaves and memories of painted letters echoing in the head. Playing with gloss/matte, front- and backpainting, figurative and abstract. Emotional lines and the letters in the head are likely to create a sound. The artwork has transparent and translucent areas.

ECHOES IN MY MIND „From the foam-blown reality, the goddess of beauty emerges.“ Vilém Flusser Time is often defined by it´s irreversibility. Can the past be rewritten and memories specifically been deleted? The autobiographic memory has little to do with the past, it is rather there, for us to orientate in the presence and future. Until recently the memory has been held for a kind of computer, which incorruptibly records the facts of what happened. The confusing insight, that the memory by no means is an archive, that precisely records the past, is disquieting. The memories of the life story are shaping the personality and forming the identity. But not the objective life data plays the lead, rather feelings do. They are filtering, what is taken into the long-term memory and what to be deleted. Memories are the guardians of our memories. Each time, we recall a memory, we inevitably manipulate it and are saving a new version of it. We do not recall what indeed happened, rather than the last saved version. And we do not delete the event, but soften the connected emotional memory. By that remembering creates a transformation in the irreversibility of time. I want with my works, between not yet and no longer, making the incomprehensible perceptible.
