ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The brutal, unjustified invasion of the sovereign nation of Ukraine in 2022 by Russia inspired me to create this artwork. I'm saddened by what I am experiencing in 2022. I was born 10 years after WWII and grew up in the shadow of that terrible war and the looming prospect of nuclear war. I can't believe this is happening in our present time.

I have been creating artwork and photographs for over 50 years. My painting was influenced at a very early age by the abstract expressionist movement of the early-mid twentieth century. Photographically my inspiration came from the likes of Minor White, Edward Weston, Garry Winograd and Jerry Uelsmann. I've lived in numerous locations in the USA and overseas but now make my home in St Augustine, Florida. I paint in oil and acrylics on canvas, favoring large panels. For my photographic works I use both traditional analog and digital equipment.
