ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The work was inspired by western and eastern mystery traditions. It is a result of research as well as meditation with and on the element of fire. How I perceive it and it's power. Where can I find it in every day life incl. the mystical aspects as well within my self. I want the viewers feel the power and the heat. It will be their individual experience. It can feel empowering and igniting their own imagination. What does the element fire mean to you? Heat, passion transformation. energy, motivation Agni is the Sanskrit noun for fire.Agni has three forms Fire Lightening and the sun. Life on earth is powered by the sun. As long as we are alive the fire is within us. Our body temperature. As Agni Deva has 2 faces fire has this too - as a life giver and life taker. Too much fire destroys. Take care of your fire Other traditions see elemental beings born out of the flames such as salamanders and other beings.(Plato, Paracelsus) I received inspiration and images for this painting while meditation in front of fire places and candles. When I walk in nature I get drawn into the texture of tree bark, the vein patterns of a leaf, the sound, but also sense there is more it is the pulse of life. The earth inhales and exhales. Every Tree has an individual character. In mythology every tree is inhabited by spirits. Every house is. How complex is the human soul? Gabriele Höhne grew up in the “Ruhr Valley” in Germany as it transformed from polluted heavy industrial centre to post-industrial cultural hub. After graduation Gabriele worked as an Art Director in advertising and interaction design. Her artistic soul found home in London where she took up painting to, as she puts it, let her spirit fly.
