ABOUT THE ARTWORK
- Oil on medium grain linen stretched over an aluminium panel This series of paintings (three in total) sought to move away from the more panoramic landscape pictures I had been making towards something more claustrophobic - focussing on the density of the surface of the painting. By choosing an area of forest with no horizon line and very few distinguishing features, an element of abstraction began to creep into the work. All of the images in this series were chosen due to their proximity to archaeological sites in the Pentland Hills, Scotland.
