About The Artwork
Apart from being decorative, this painting pertains to the common emotion of envy as the title states. Probably there is a little bit of it in all of us and I see nothing wrong with that I guess, just as long as we can control it. A healthy desire can spur a person on can't it? Lots of golden locks surrounding two beautiful faces and I love green eyes, like I have painted here. There's not much of a difference between the two individuals pictured, but it seems one is eyeing for what the other has. Whether it is in a good way or bad is another question. The style I employed here is what I call 'flare' painting and the piece is finished in the same way right round the sides, so it does not need a frame. It is one of my earlier works and I am quite content for it to find a new home where it can be appreciated. It is nice to have a change every now and again.
