Painting: Acrylic, Oil, Ink, Ballpoint Pen and Paper on Canvas and Paper.
My mixed-media works are restless, graceful, and consummate examples of the ways contemporary painting continues to innovate. I paint roiling shapes that push and pull at each other, building up a composition as they go. I play with flatness and how it can create energy when manipulated correctly. At the right moment, I add a thin line of ballpoint ink or an unexpected scratch to the surface in order to puncture the expected narrative and change its direction.
I no longer limit myself with certain principles and standards. I hope that people can be touched by my work so that they can face the difficulties and uncertainties in their lives with a more positive attitude. I have that attitude towards my own works. For me, the uncontrollable aspects found in the process of creating art are more of a wonderful “accident.”
