I add metal work to painting and seek their harmony. This work also includes metal (steel wire), which is combined with various other materials (wood, plaster, acrylic, etc.). So it has distinctive matière and three-dimensional effects. I usually get inspiration from nature. There are many precious things in nature, but it’s not so easy to recognize their beauty at a glance. At this artwork ‘Essence of Iris’, I tried to express the hidden beauty of Iris flower by using delicate metal wires. As is well known, it’s hard to manipulate metals because much time and effort are required to complete one work. I cut, bend, weld, grind and polish a lot of steel wires to materialize the final form I intended. After this process finished, I color it with special paint for metal. And aside from this process, I make a wood panel with paulownia wood and apply plaster and some other undercoats on it. And then I apply the color to this panel and steel wires once again. The artwork is finally completed after they are combined into one piece. The thickness of the wood panel is 4cm. Total thickness includes steel wires is 12cm. The sides of the panel are finished as same as its front part. And it’s already ready to hang. Whenever I contemplate and make the work, my major concern is the space that the work will get to be placed in. So it’s possible to adjust the size or color of the work, according to the collectors’ request. I think communication is the most important requirement for art. I'd like to share with everyone the beautiful sensibilities I talk through artwork.

website: Instagram: park_yongho_art I’m a metal artist and painter, applying metal works to painting. Though I’m a Korea based artist, I’m very active internationally. For many years I’ve been working in Japan, France, and the U.S.A. with lots of galleries. I seek the harmony of two different categories, metal work and painting. And I try to make them in good balance and moderation. So my artwork is differentiated from normal painting in many ways. Every work includes metals (aluminum, steel, stainless steel, etc.), which are combined with various other materials (wood, plaster, etc.) It has distinctive matière and three-dimensional effects. And it’s possible to adjust the size or color of artworks, according to collectors’ requests. I think artwork can be a good communication method even if it’s not a language. So I always try to express various thoughts and emotions in my work. Because I think communication is always the most important requirement for artwork. There are many beautiful things, not visible but do exist in this world. When I feel and recognize them, they fascinate me and stir up my sensitivity. I would like to share with everyone the beauty that I feel and express through artworks.
