About The Artwork

Welcome to my world, where "Estranged Fragments" come to life on a 40 cm by 40 cm canvas. In this mixed media painting, I explore the profound disconnection between humankind and the natural realm. Join me as I unravel the layers and imagery that tell a story of fragmented unity. As I bring forth human-shaped stencils onto the canvas, their forms take on an unsettling emptiness, mirroring the void that has settled between us and the natural world. These figures stand as fragmented echoes of our once vibrant connection, reminding us of the fractures that have deepened over time. With a stroke of bold crimson, I carve a powerful path through the stencils—a symbol of our fading influence. It speaks volumes about the erosion of our place in the natural order, leaving us yearning for restoration. Cool hues of blue evoke a sense of longing, while stark whites reflect the detachment we have allowed to permeate our existence. The vibrant red demands our attention, compelling us to confront the fractures and seek to rebuild what has been lost. Through "Estranged Fragments," I aim to provoke reflection on the consequences of our disconnection. I invite you to reconsider our relationship with nature, to rediscover our place within the intricate tapestry of life. In this artwork, I seek to remind us of the interconnectedness of all things and our responsibility as caretakers of the Earth. Within the depths of "Estranged Fragments," we discover an opportunity for renewal. Let it inspire us to mend the fractures, to forge a path of reconnection that fosters unity and reverence for the environment that sustains us. May this painting be a catalyst for change, encouraging us to nurture a harmonious coexistence where humankind and nature can once again thrive as one.

Like Charlie Chaplin's 'Modern Times'... An unconditional workforce from the Industrial Revolution to the present. The disconnection between industry and people, the break between people and nature, and the destruction of both by industry. An unquestioned authority and lives revolving around like lab rats. In my works, isolated individuals and a vanishing world dominate. Unfortunately, the world I oppose in my works is also the world I exist in; it reflects my anxieties, my unhappiness, my loneliness and the emptiness I receive in return for unlimited effort. There is a resonance with Spinoza's concept of Conatus, with the discovery of isolated individuals, the disappearance of the world, and the emptiness of constant work. Just as Spinoza suggests that there is an inner existence and striving for well-being in all beings, the disconnection and dehumanization depicted in the work echoes the consequences of a world driven only by industrial forces. The struggle for existence at the individual and collective level is integrated in the web of social structures and power dynamics. My work highlights the need to reflect on the impact of this disconnection on the human psyche and to regain and nurture a fundamental drive for connection, well-being, and harmony with nature.
