I am a self-taught painter with a profound fascination for abstract art, particularly the dynamic interplay between shapes and color surfaces. Inspired by American abstract expressionists such as Clyfford Still and the lyrical stylings of Mark Rothko, I seek to achieve a delicate balance where color fields engage in a dialogue or opposition, resulting in works that are both simple and captivating. My artistic journey revolves around a key dimension: the exploration of tension in simplicity versus complexity. Striving to avoid the pitfalls of uninteresting simplicity or overwhelming content, I aim to strike a harmonious balance. Another captivating aspect of my work is the exploration of the relationship between representability and non-representability in abstract art. Rather than outright denial, I view abstract art as an opportunity to navigate the boundaries and tensions between representation and non-representation. Echoing the sentiment that the division between abstract and realistic art is more about varying intensities than rigid categories, I approach my paintings with this nuanced perspective. Often, I take an existing landscape as my starting point, deliberately distancing the expression to challenge the viewer's perception and offer a fresh perspective. This dialogue between the recognizable and the unrecognizable, the tension between presentability and non-presentability, is a recurring theme in my work. The decision to abstract recognizable landscapes stems from the profound questions that art continually poses. By introducing strange, unsettling, or abstract elements, I aim to encourage viewers to reexamine familiar subjects from new angles. Art, in my view, goes beyond mere reproduction; it illuminates the familiar in novel ways and creates something entirely new. This, to me, is the essence of art—finding ways to infuse tension into works and enhance their allure. My artistic journey has been marked by numerous national exhibitions, and I take pride in having sold artworks to private collectors across various countries, primarily in the Nordic region.
