Abstract acrylic, ink and mixed media on gallery wrapped canvas with back brace, all sides painted yellow, no staples, ready to exhibit. This work, which has unfolded over several years, is an extensive exploration of my love for combining painting with drawing, within a mixed media format. I attached paper to this gallery wrapped canvas support, and just started drawing with a marker, while simultaneously using yellow paint across the mounted paper. As I worked on this piece I thought about Georgia O'Keeffe and her statement, "Making your unknown known is the important thing - and keeping the unknown always beyond you." O'Keeffe was writing in her letter to Sherwood Anderson about success, public opinion, and what it really means to be an artist. The artist Sol LeWitt expands on the perplexities of the creative life in his spectacular 1965 letter to the young, trailblazing sculptor Eva Hesse. Hesse was suffering from creative block and self doubt so she reached out to her friend LeWitt for direction. In this masterpiece of a response LeWitt urges Hesse to cease overthinking her art and abandon her attachements to what it must be, and just, "DO." Lately I have been striving to put the ideas of O'Keeffe and LeWitt into practice and just make what i am feeling. In this work I try to bring about the idea of being fully awake in our own individual creativity no matter what our vocation in life may be. Thank you for looking. Peace and Love.

I am an American abstract painter. Every so often I veer into expressionist figuration. As an outsider I studied the fundamentals of art, the great artists, and the influential art movements throughout history, on my own. One of my goals is to always remain outside the norm. I am heavily influenced by the Abstract Expressionists from The New York School. Inspiration also comes to me from the works of Claude Monet, Joan Mitchell and Lee Krasner as well. The outsider ideal connects with me thanks to artists such as Jean Dubuffet and Jean Michel-Basquiat. Non-comformity defines what art should be. My mission is to create engaging and innovative artworks. I hope to extend an appreciation of artistic expression to a wide audience. The painting process I employ involves acrylic and mixed media. As I paint, color and material are combined on the canvas, and I love to merge drawing with painting. Many of my original paintings are found in collections across North America, Europe, and Asia. A Certificate of Authenticity ships with each painting, along with background information about the making of the piece. All the work you see is available. Thank you for looking.
