Joachim Kreitmair aka JOA-CHIM, , born 1960 near Munich/Germany. I discovered my passion for abstract sculpture as a teenager. Early works made of river stone and timber date back over 35 years. This passion got rekindled when I moved to New Zealand in 1995 were my art practice(sculptor/painter) is based ever since. I have contributed to many major shows including the Norsewear Art Award, Sculpture OnShore, Northlands Finest, Coutts Mercedes, Villa Maria Vineyard, Waikato Sculpture Trust to name a few. My insiration comes from the infinite beauty and variety of nature. The aim is always to provide a exciting and uplifting experience through the visual and emotional presence of my work. Guided through the inner radiance of the materials used the form develops almost by itself. The visual appearance of the piece can be regarded as the packaging or the doorway to access it's essence. I use a multitude of materials ranging from stainless steel, corten, copper, bronze, stone to perspex and timber. Awards: Selected within the Norsewear Art Award Finalist Northland Art Award 2013
