ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Canvas / oil / 80*80 cm The center of attention of the picture depicts the Petersburg Crow and the Crow. I respect these beautiful birds. Ravens have a reputation for being intelligent. Consistency in their life inspires sympathy and admiration - they form stable pairs and choose a new partner only when they are widowed. I seriously believe that crows have a sense of humor, and indeed, sometimes these birds kind of fool around. They can deviously tease a cat or a dog, ride from the roof, arrange collective games in the air, tossing and catching a stick on the fly. I depicted in the picture a symbol of family constancy, respect, what I am looking for in this life. In the background, you will see the Harbor on Vasilievsky Island, which opened in 2018 as a new public space on the historic territory of the Sevkabel plant with a well-groomed embankment and an impressive view of the Gulf of Finland. An event platform, cafes, bars appeared here, and after a while - shops, restaurants, offices, clubs, hotels and even a museum. A bit of history: The Sevkabel plant (in pre-revolutionary times - Siemens & Halske) was built at the end of the 19th century - it became an independent division of the German industrial giant, which supplied telegraph equipment to the Russian Empire. The founder of the plant, Karl Siemens, acquired a license to use Edison lamps and built a factory for the production of cables and electrical equipment in St. Petersburg. The most notable projects of the company in St. Petersburg were the introduction of the first electric trams, as well as the creation of an electric lighting system for Nevsky Prospekt and the Winter Palace.
