Art Description

Painting: Oil on Wood.

The layered oil paintings are painted with precision and underlying detail. Inspired by surrealism and by growing pop culture in art, I aim to re-invent surrealism with a new twist. The art is primarily evocative and yet serene with its beautiful color as a dominant characteristic. My body of work is based on distorted/dissembled Portrait Photography covering the subjects with a translucent plastic surface. The idea of plastic taking over the space between the subject and the viewer has great significance in my work. The strong decorative large-sized paintings appeal by their three-dimensionality and the appearance of layers and fraction of light evoking an aura of both disintegration and depth.
