FAUNA Painting

Inspired by the ancient art of Suminagashi, which uses inks floating on water, I developed my own unique artistic technique, which I call ‘LIQUID IMPRESSIONS’. I design and capture distinctive shapes and textures to use them to build my visual narrative. I aim to achieve harmony between stability and chaos, imposing my own will on the piece whilst embracing its irregularity. I am instrumental in transforming fluid forms into a solid and permanent state at the critical point of immersion. The results are vivid, translucent, richly saturated and evocative images with almost photographic qualities. By building layers, texture and transparencies, I manipulate the naturally occurring dispersion processes of pigments to create contemplative and inspiring artwork. In each work I explore the equilibrium between boldness and intricacy, the balancing of positive form and negative space, the telescopic and the microscopic detail. I have always been fascinated by the microscopic patterns and textures seen in nature, they are both intricate and yet beautifully simple.
