ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This acrylic on canvas painting depicts a school of Hawaiian Milletseed butterfly fish and Saddleback Wrasses feeding on the eggs of an absent Sergeant fish. The fish are feeding in a "frenzy" before the Sergeant fish returns. The paint is scraped in horizontal bands using the technique of Swiss painter Andy Denzler. This technique alludes to the deterioration of Hawaii's population of fish.
