These days I'm drowning in my computer work and didn't have time to post my latest paintings. So this is one of them. To make this painting I got inspired by a plant called urucum. It grows here in South America and has been used many years ago by indigenous people. The name urucu or urucum came from the language tipi and means red for its strong reddish pigment. The indigenous people use it to paint their bodies for rituals but, as well, for practical uses as solar protection or repellent and can be used as a natural dye for cosmetics, food, or textile. I ve decided to extract pigment from the urucum and use it in this painting. It is built up in multiple layers of sand texture and contrasting colors complete by red-colored details to the interplay between the green, gray, and deep blue shades. In my artwork, I aim to open the way for exploration by the viewer. But for me, this painting represents life. Forest and soil in the sandy structure, the natives in the color of urucum and the river with the ocean in a smooth deep color. A life that offers us endless possibilities. Whether to wander in the forest looking for ancient wisdom or to find a river that will lead us to the ocean of endless possibilities of life.

Michaela Gloria is an abstract painter originally from the Czech Republic who now finds inspiration and living space in Brazil. Her artistic work is set in the context of a fascination with the microworld, the macrostructures of the Earth and the colourful textures of nature that she finds around her. What makes her work unique is her creative approach to materials. Experimenting with natural elements such as sand and clay, she creates not only a visual but also a tangible experience for viewers. Another unique element in her work is the use of her own pigment from the urucum plant, which is used by indigenous Brazilian tribes to paint on the body. These combinations with traditional practices and local materials add another layer of meaning to her paintings, connecting abstract art with Brazil's rich cultural history. Michaela Gloria is thus not only a creator of visual poetry but also an explorer of the connection between artistic expression and the natural elements that surround her.
