'Finisterre' oil on linen

For years I have listened to the shipping forecast on Radio 4 while I painted in the studio. So many visuals were conjured while hearing the announcer reference his way around the British Isles, area by area. In thinking about the translation for 'Finisterre' that of the 'end of the earth' while developing this painting there was a clear reference to the south coast and the English Channel. The term 'Finisterre' is no longer used in the forecast and for the time being I can't really see the replacement name FitzRoy becoming a painting...

I graduated from the University of West of England in 1988 with a degree in Fine Art. My career has developed as a result of awards, appointments, exhibitions, the growth of a significant and loyal band of collectors and, of course, first time buyers. Throughout these 35 years, I have developed and applied new and exciting techniques of mark making to my work. I have also engaged in a range of exhibition formats, broadening my popularity and resulting in an active online and social media presence.
