Anuki Natsvlishvili was born in 1980, in Tbilisi – the capital of Georgia. She created her first piece of work at the age of four. This was a child’s attempt to express and explain to her parents, the essence of sudden visions of uncertain origins; an act of liberation of sorts she chose art to express instead of her words. Works of the time are full of symbols and unusual characters, not typical for a child’s consciousness. They probably were a part of her visions and keep coming back in some episodes from time to time. Anuki, however, never talks about this. Despite the fact that the young painter chose a classical path of development and continued her studies at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts – mastering painting, theater arts and later graphic design and visual communications, visualizing extremely intimate processes remained the main driving force for her, as a creator. While studying, Anuki actively cooperated with different theatres creating massive graphic works. Soon and rather unexpectedly, however, she quit painting and moved to an entirely different field of work – business. For years her teachers and fans attempted to find out what was the reason behind her decision, but Anuki never commented on it; until 2015 when she took another radical step closing her publishing house – the home of one of the most popular magazines in the country and devoted all of her time to her personal growth. During that time, Anuki studied different philosophical and religious doctrines: Rosicrucian teachings, Theosophy, Hermeticism and many others and traveled a lot. In 2017 she went back to her workshop and actively started painting. Now Anuki uses different techniques from what she used to, openly referring to universal concepts and states such as: love, happiness, euphoria and sadness. Her works feature the author’s view on esoteric subjects. Most viewers get the feeling that the author creates monumental icons of sensations and states and lets them float freely around the world. According to Anuki, this is what she sees the main purpose of art, as a medium.
