I chose to represent flowers in this semi-abstract way because of their versatility in expressing emotions, and ability to add an empathic feeling to any type of event: whether it’s celebrating a special occasion, the passing of a loved one, an anniversary, to say 'I’m sorry', to express love, welcome a new life, wishing a friend to get well soon—or, just for the beauty of them, simply because they can bring a smile and an opportunity to pause, take breath, and reflect on your day.
Our lives move at an ever-increasing, often frantic pace, and the phrase “taking time to smell the flowers” has never been more relevant than it is today, with many of us staring at screens more than skies, interacting with our phones more than our friends, and binging on content rather than savoring individual moments.
My hope with this series is that viewers can experience a moment of peace and serenity, and be reminded of the delicate beauty and intimacy of the things around us that so often go unnoticed.
