This is a reworked version of one of the earliest flower jungle pieces I painted, I was never quite sold on how the pink blush had overwhelmed the piece and the composition always felt incomplete. I reworked the piece recently, adding jaunty sprays of pale green eucalyptus style creeper with golden tendrils, and reducing the pink blush to a warm, seeping sunrise rather than an all encompassing riot of color. This is a small painting (12x9) on a cradled wood board and can be hung as is or framed by the eventual buyer. The painting features a spring garden composition with protea blossoms, small blue forget me nots and other flowers growing in a wild, uncontained manner alongside rich orange reeds and other wildflowers. A deep pink gentles in behind the blooms, infusing the piece with an impression of new beginnings.

Lara Meintjes, also known as Agnes, is a South African artist, happily living in Oakland, California. She is particularly interested in arrangements of color, and the effects of each color's presence on the others within a composition. She also really likes flowers and awkward ceramic objects. Lara is fascinated by the dividing line between fact and fantasy, and the lingering imprint of childhood on our adult lives. She likes to play in the negative space between objects.
