This piece is comprised of three separate canvases framed in a custom steel welded frame. I am excited by historical and present day depictions of women in construction and trade work, In this case, welding during WW2. I want the observer to feel the heat of the work at hand, and the intense focus of the worker. The frame is a real life example of this kind of trade. I personally spent many years in the construction trades and feel a bond.

Born in Los Angeles, California in 1956, K. Anders Anderson (Kersteen) is an American artist whose work explores the materials, structures, and forms in the built environment, as it relates to our personal experiences of home space, and our presence in that space. Anderson's fascination with art began as a small child, and she painted, drew and created Fiber Art for many years before setting it all aside to focus on raising her family, and in later years, creating a successful decorative paint contracting company. During this time she focused on decorative, furniture and specialty finishes, becoming known for her innovative use of color and mastery of complex finishes. Her painting company also established a leadership program for its female painting staff, realizing higher skillsets in the field and increased confidence on a construction job site. A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State University, Long Beach 1980, post graduate work at the Isabel O’Neil Foundation Studio in New York City and her painting work in television, theater and public entertainment¬, paved the way for her to showcase her work in some of the most noteworthy residences and public spaces in the world. She is influenced by the work of Louise Nevelson, Leonardo Drew, Robert Rauschenberg, Katharina Grosse and Phyllida Barlow. Currently, Kersteen is working on a private commission and preparing a body of work for future exhibition. She lives in Palm Desert, California with her husband.
