Many artists, no matter the medium, can remember when we were children and enjoyed complete freedom of expression. We drew, painted and created with total abandon. Likely, art was our top subject in school. During Elementary and Junior High School days, Dottie was no different. Her watercolor paintings, colored pencil drawings and pottery earned her much recognition and won many ribbons. Her artwork went on display in shopping malls and many public places. Unfortunately, during the beginning of High School, she stood helplessly by as her parent’s marriage crumbled and ended in divorce. Dottie’s young life took a drastic downturn. Her wonderful expression of creativity soon became buried under a spiral of troubling emotions. Instead of turning to her art, she ran to other things in an attempt to fill the swirling void she felt inside. As it does, life happened; through adulthood she busied herself building businesses. The longing to create, which had been stifled to a whisper, was about to arise into a scream. In 2009 that scream became a roar and her early love of creating art spilled out, blossomed and awakened fully. Since then she has continued to work to develop her gift and paint with unrelenting passion! Dottie lives in Sacramento, California Style This artist’s work portrays raw human emotion as subconscious impulses played out on canvas. Primal brushstrokes collide with one another, dance intuitively, and create gestural compositions that attempt to arouse deep emotional responses from the viewer. Currently, in 2015, what started as a short foray into abstract painting techniques has exploded into an energetic joy bursting with spectacular color and dramatization. Dottie hopes to share more of her work in this style soon. Pricing This Artist’s creations are set at a suggested price; however, should you suggest an offer of what you would be willing to pay, please know that 10% of all proceeds will go to help children and young adults who have been victimized by sex trafficking in the Sacramento Metro Area.
