About The Artwork
Living on rural Dartmoor creates so much inspiration with the passing seasons. This painting was inspired by the poppy's peaking through the undergrowth in the woods near my house. They glowed in the morning light whilst the wind blew the trees above giving the whole scene a sense of energy. I want the viewer to feel this, and be energised and excited by this painting. The reds and gold create a feeling of happiness which is contrasted against the calm purples of the sky. I used oil paint because I feel the colours are much richer than acrylics or watercolour.
