Painting is a very ancient human activity. We have cave paintings that are more than 40,000 years old. My ancestors are from the British Isles, Ireland, Scandinavia and Western Europe. My name, Scoggins, is an English name from the West Midlands with Old Norse origins from the Norse word “Skog” meaning forest or woodland. So it originally meant man of the woods and has links to Viking heritage. Rebelling against the techno fascism and dross of current AI imagery I have felt the call of the ancestors to paint in continuity with our ancient traditions. Hence the use of Woad - the colour of resistance by the ancient British tribes against the literally facist Roman invaders.
