Fragmented realties Painting

As an artist, I recently had the privilege of working with seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia at a centre in St. Albert. It was a transformative experience that allowed me to connect with these individuals on a deeply personal level. They shared with me their most cherished memories, and I used those memories to create a painting using oil paints. This painting is not just a collection of images on canvas; it is a tribute to the power of memory. Our memories shape who we are and how we see the world around us. For those living with Alzheimer's and dementia, their memories can become fragmented, causing anxiety and agitation in their everyday lives. I found that creating art with these seniors helped to reconnect them with their past and allowed them to relive some of their happiest memories. It was a reminder of the importance of preserving our memories and cherishing the good times. In this painting, I captured the visuals of memories shared with me by these seniors. The painting includes images of time spent in the mountains, on hikes, and ski trips. The colors of fall leaves and the beauty of waterfalls are also captured in the painting, evoking a sense of nostalgia and warmth.
