ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Free Ride" is an extra large abstract painting on canvas. It is a bright, gestural work with scribbles and marks in different tones of green, salmon and magenta. Lines connect the different areas. Unframed, ships rolled in a tube and needs to be restretched by your local framer. It is much safer and environmentally friendly to ship large formats in a tube. It can easily be restretched by a framer close to you. This is usually less expensive than the very increased shipping cost for large works (ready to hang). The sides are painted white. This is a mixed-media work. I worked mainly with acrylic colours, but also oil pastel, ink and charcoal. The work is signed on the front and will come with a Certificate of Authenticity. 150 x 120 x 2 cm / 59 x 47.24 x 0.78 in

ARTIST STATEMENT: Life is a largely subjective experience; but that subjective experience is my bridge to the objective world. And it’s this synthesis of the two that I am trying to capture. INSPIRATION AND PROCESS: I love experimenting and want to give my works an individual expression. I have two lines of work: I love painting almost (but not quite) realistic, somewhat utopian, nature images and on the other hand I really enjoy doing non-objective/abstract art. I am inspired by the beauty and power of natural phenomena, the mystery of nature, its colors and forms. Every painting is a one-of-a-kind work in which I try to combine feeling and thought. I work most of the time with acrylics but I also mix acrylics with other media such as oil pastel, soft pastel, spray paint, graphite and charcoal or ink. All materials I use, if canvas, paper or paints are of artist quality.
