From my gilded window II (Woolwich) Painting

This artwork depicts the trees that greet you as you enter the Woolwich peninsula along the Parramatta River in Sydney’s Lower North Shore. As a child, I remember cutting out paper ‘windows’ or ‘frames’ and looking at everything around me through them. This simple act personalises the view through the lens and makes it my own. Growing up in India, gold is a colour commonly seen, and it forms the lens through which I see the Australian landscape; changing the narrative of the place now imbued with my identity and culture. This artwork is a part of the series called Tracing Patterns & Chasing Silhouettes which explores the intersection of landscape and life along Sydney’s urban waterways.
