Inspired by Joyce Finnegans Wake. Quote from the book first senctence starting with Riverrun. Maybe my image of the Bay where Dublin is situated. In Finnegans Wake the river brings us back to HCE, the male protagonist of the book, the city of Dublin. ''Riverrun is more than a clue to the circling plan of Finnegans Wake; it characterizes the essence of the book itself. For, in this work, both space and time are fluid; meanings, characters, and vocabulary deliquesce in constant fluxion.' Joyce has reversed the names, making 'Eve and Adam's', perhaps because we are going backwards - we are brought back from the sea at the end to the river in Dublin, and we are moving from Anna Livia to HCE: 'a commodious vicus of recirculation' suggests 'vicious circle', the cyclical theory of history of Giambattista Vico, and Dublin's Vico Road which runs beside the sea on the south side of Dublin bay.
