Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Wood.

One of the most wonderful aspects of city life, is that it is in a constant state of repair and disrepair. This is how modernization happens. There is both a restoration of the old and a rebuilding for the future and we can see that most prominently in the construction of buildings. No matter how old or new the design of buildings can be, their structures come in the most recognizable of forms, shapes and structures. I am mainly interested in the architectural style of the modernization period of the industrial revolution. I choose to focus on the recognizable and create from the simplicity of structure, design and color.

This particular building is located in the West Loop (Fulton Market) area of Chicago.
