About The Artwork

Details: Viktor Kolosov, Future in the Past, 2008, 118 x 189.5 cm, acrylic and oil on canvas, Technique: smooth and three-dimensional painting using textured acrylic mixtures. The work is written on the back (not primed) side of the canvas. The surface of the work is matte. The signature of the author is repeated 3 times and is stylized as a drawing on the uniform button. Description: Hardly anyone has met a serious scientific work about nature of the hope. However, such research could benefit society. In fact, few people have decent knowledge about theory or even about the classification of hopes. Only small is obvious: hopes are inherent in both an individual and society as a whole. Future in The Past is an English time, which in its classical form does not exist in any of the Slavic languages. This special temporary construction is not inherent in the mentality of a person from Eastern Europe. Nevertheless, when we are speaking about the hopes that we had in the past for the future, Future in The Past easily takes on its literal meaning in our mind. Future in The Past is a picture about our past hopes. Actually, we are always inseparable from our illusions, despite global cataclysms, big failures or other disappointments. And very often, in wait for arrival of the future, we instinctively realizing that, all our hopes will return to the dust as always. Than we are diving in another long waiting period. The picture was exhibited in the author's project "The Journey of the Uniform" at the international festival "Gogolfest" in Kiev in 2008.
