While walking around Užutrakio Dvaras, just on the outskirts of the park I came across a copy of this beautiful sculpture; sunk in the tall grass, invisible from the main paths and as if slightly forgotten. Cast in a sweet slumber, the head of a woman, once a living goddess, amidst a swarm of midges, buzzing bees, and lightly colored butterflies. It stirred in me a strange feeling on the verge of euphoria, mixed with an out-of-temporal sadness of realizing the transience of summer and a sense of infinite rebirth of youth and beauty imprinted in the stone. My goddess is buried in herbs and flowers, the whiteness of her powerful, beautiful body rivalling the many colors of summer. The vivid blue and purple lupines are like multicolored candles against the backdrop of her powerful, draped body. This painting is part of the “Roots and Grasses in the Wind” series, created between 2019 and 2022. The series is based on images of natural objects such as tree roots, grasses, flowers and animals. Occasionally, lonely human figures appear in this background as an integral part of this world.

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999.
