BIOGRAPHY Sheron Smith is a versatile and intuitive artist was born in La Rochelle, France. Her formative years in San Francisco ignited a passion for creativity but her artistic spirit has flourished in Kansas City, where she is now a long-time resident. While Sheron initially pursued a career in education, earning a Master of Science in Education and made significant strides as an educator, her love for art never waned. She adeptly wove her artistic flair into her teaching, inspiring countless students with her creative lesson plans and hands-on art projects. As an educator, she skillfully wove art into her lesson plans taking every opportunity to immerse herself deeper into artistic pursuits. Art was ever-present, a constant muse accompanying her throughout her career. Upon retiring from her educational career, Sheron embraced her calling as a full-time artist, quickly establishing herself as a prominent figure in the Kansas City arts scene. Her artistic oeuvre is characterized by a rich interplay of textures and vivid colors, often reflecting the beauty of her surroundings. Sheron's journey into abstract art gives her the freedom to explore the depths of both representation and pure abstraction. Sheron's involvement in Kansas City’s community art initiatives is a testament to her influence and commitment to the local arts scene. Her designs have twice been juried into the Kansas City Parade of Hearts, and her standout piece "Together We Rise" was selected for Art In the Loop's "Big Board," displayed prominently at 13th and Grand for two years. Her vibrant works have been embraced by the business community, with several Kansas City businesses currently selling prints of her art, while her original pieces adorn local establishments and private homes alike. In addition to her artistic contributions, Sheron finds solace in travel and music, pursuing her interests in the cello and violin. As Sheron continues to hone her craft, she remains passionate about exploring new artistic horizons. Ever the learner and explorer, in addition to abstract works, Sheron creates cityscapes, and jazz-related paintings. Sheron Smith continues to contribute her distinct voice to the world of art.
