ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a 16" x 20" oil on canvas of a woman in a striped robe, twirling. The canvas is gallery framed with 1 inch sides to protect it from warping. Sides are painted so no frame is necessary. Painting is varnished for shine and extra protection. This piece is part of a dress series of women in fancy and colorful clothing, with their face hidden. The hidden face allows anyone to relate to the person because she is non specific. These works are however autobiographical in nature, as is all my work. Does anyone really know me? Or are judgements based on appearance? Do you know what's going on behind the bright and happy clothing? All of us keep parts hidden. The robe is rendered in oranges, yellows, and whites, with a deep bluish purple background.
