ABOUT THE ARTWORK
While working on the small format paintings series 'Melancholy', this image of a dubious gender person came about. I cherished its identity and colored it in bright hues and in dark hues (contrasts that compliment each other), while keeping the face features simple. The canvas is stretched on a wooden frame and will be sent ready to be placed on the wall.

"My paintings depict the intensity of life; bright colors or black and white, abstract or figurative, my images point at Life and at our humanity that we evoke through beauty." S. Kapnissi (Athens, 1966) studied painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University in Greece and at the Free Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands; for a period as a NUFFIC grantee. She is founding member of the Gaidaro group which from 1999-2008 presented projects advocating for wide participation in the art practice and presentation.
