Made with acrylic and gel mediums, this painting consists of layers of texture and genuine gold leaf on textured canvas.

Written on the bottom of this painting are the verses from Surah Rehman dictated from the Holy Quran and translating to:

"So which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?

Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor"

Written on the top right corner, blending with layers of silver leaf and written in burnished Silver Leaf is

Surah Al-Fatiha

"In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists).

The Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

The Only Owner (and the Only Ruling Judge) of the Day of Recompense (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)

You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help (for each and everything).

Guide us to the Straight Way

The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace,

not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray".

"Gold in the Cracks" alludes to the hardships we face during our lives and bounty and mercy of Allah swt blessings that remind us of his Mercy. Despite the difficulties faced and encountered by the sahaba, they remained steadfast in the face of adversity and held to the stronghold of faith in Allah swt. This painting is a picture of adversity, dignity and faith. It carries with it the presence of difficulty, hardship and tribulations in it's flaws but awakens hope and faith through the perfection of the arabic letters from the Holy Quran and the question "Which of his Favours will you deny?"
