About The Artwork

I hope that my viewers feel in peace with their shadow showing that is possible to love a shell with out the perfectionism and the vanity. Making the painting one unique journey for the unconsciousness world of dreams. Because I had a lot of influence of Kiefer, Georg Baselitz and Willem de Kooning. In my paintings I also play with scale in the composition putting the little shell as if it were a big mountain or could be just among of pigment spread on a canvas. My main question for the viewers are: What your eyes can see ? I am an artist and I aim to bring nature and its reflection into the daily lives of people. Shells are like fossils. All beings suffer from some past experience. Time the accident is built or not marked on the person's skin or body. Shells are a way to bring one up through image and heal the feeling of social displacement. Resigning good and bad experiences by looking at a screen is the best remedy. Reflecting and admiring your shells requires maturity and courage to look at defects and shadows without fear.

Marcelo Maria de Castro fully dedicates his time to the plastic arts, as a painter, draftsman, engraver and teacher. Castro has an intense, subjective and surprising style. He portrays the human figure in contemporary works characterized by the harmonious effusion of strong and contrasting colors. With a narrative and autobiographical character, He suggests Expressionist interpretations of reality, dealing with form by gesture combined with strong and rhythmic brush strokes. With a heterodox formation in the last five years, the development of his pictorial thought included the use of mixed techniques on canvas, wood, panels and murals. In his studio, located in Panamby, in São Paulo.
