About The Artwork

This papaya makes me smile. There is a soft brightness to it that is refreshing and seems to say good morning. It is painted with professional watercolor paint on 100% cotton Fabriano Artistico paper. It is mounted on a 1.5 inch deep cradled wood panel and coated with a protective archival varnish. The 1.5 inch deep sides are natural wood. I like to mount my watercolor paintings on wood panels to give them a modern presentation instead of traditional framing. This work of art is wired and ready to hang. www.pswyatt.com

Paige Smith-Wyatt is a contemporary American painter.  She began painting at an early age and studied art with a concentration in painting at Huntingdon College (BA), art therapy and creativity development at Pratt Institute (MPS), and contemplative art making/art education at Florida State University (PhD). For Paige, painting is a contemplative and expressive practice rooted in identification with Nature: “Nature has been my greatest teacher and has solidified my understanding of life and painting. This involves a reliance on feeling and empathy, sensitivity to my being, surroundings, and medium, and the artwork’s surface, color, and process to achieve a visceral synthesis." Paige’s work has been exhibited and sold throughout the United States and internationally. She has lived and created amongst the people and landscapes of New Mexico, Alabama, Virginia, Nevada, Texas, New York, Hawaii, North Dakota, the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana, and now lives and paints in Corrales, New Mexico.
