ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"Good Shepherd” was inspired by a combination of travels in Iceland and Biblical studies. In Iceland, I was captivated by the terrain juxtaposed with its inhabitants. The title “Good Shepherd” is a reference to Biblical scripture in the book of John. John 10:14-15 states, “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me - just as the Father knows me and I know the Father - and I lay down my life for the sheep.” The shepherd is not merely doing a job. He tends the sheep out of love. He owns the sheep and is committed to them. This painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, display wire, hanging hardware, and a paper dust cover. I often refer to my “BC” (Before Children) years when discussing my work. My painting style is transforming in parallel to how life itself has been redefined. I’m marking this present time as “AD” (Anni di Dedizione); dedicated to creating with my loves, my daughter and son. Efforts of returning to the studio have forced me to examine how I paint. Ultimately my goal is to create. I’m creating because I must. The act of painting is a refreshment to my state of being. When I do I want it to be a beautiful reflection of the world around me. I’m constantly observing how the art world has transformed and assessing my place in it.
