Painting: Acrylic, Gesso on Canvas.
The current works of Mara Ruehl can be classified as colour field painting. The theme that runs through her works from the very beginning is colour. Her central concern is to let it become present as an own pictorial reality.
Although form has a certain significance for her, colour is her absolute priority. For the artist, colour is a living and changeable substance, which comes from the depth of the picture like a universal force. Colour, freed from meaningful representation, is sufficient for itself and its magic only really appears when the spirituality of the representational has also evaporated.
Her first such reduced works were created between 1996 and 1999 in Argentina. The sea of colours of the folkloric garments, the morning and evening moods in the pampas, in which the shades of the sky appeared in an unimaginable range of light colours, were perhaps the most lasting events for her work today.
Inspired by the brilliant colours of nature and the translucent and clear light colours of the sky, which merge softly and gracefully into one another without creating a mixed colour, the colour gradient became Mara Ruehl's obsession. Getting closer to the colours of light, to paint ever softer, more flowing and tender, but equally in powerful, bright colours, is her unique selling point and recognition feature and at the same time her intention.
This work comes to your home framed in a black wooden frame made by the artist. It is equipped with picture hooks on the back so that you only have to worry about the hooks in your wall.
