One mixes the colour orange by adding red and yellow together. Red in this instance represents grace, and yellow mercy. Globally warm colours are associated with fire, which in this artwork makes a reference to endurance. Going through really tough times in life gives one the opportunity to grow in endurance and patience. It creates the opportunity to grow the capacity for mercy - being a receptor and dispenser of mercy.

Janna is a South African artist, born and raised in the capital, Pretoria, where she also obtained an Honours degree in Fine Art at the local university. She now lives and practices art from her studio at home in Cape Town. In her oil paintings she explores the inner world of people and expresses it often through the relationship of figures and landscape. The type of landscape, it’s colour, and the position of the figures all give clues as to what could be happening in that person’s soul. Painting is her passion as she loves the immediacy and vibrancy of oil paint applied to a canvas or board. Currently she is challenging herself to explore new styles, expressions and applications of oils, and is deeply fascinated with colour and how they play off each other. Her work focuses on the positive, pouring courage and hope into people.
