ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In today’s high paced world, social media can get very distracting. Although people have hundreds or thousands of friends online, if they get too immersed in the virtual world, they tend to loose touch with the real people in their lives. In my work I want to emphasize the importance of old school social interaction in our daily life. Throughout my work, I chose to represent instances of face to face communication in an abstract-figurative manner. So, I used techniques like applying thin layers of paint symbolizing the multiple layers of our relationship with others. I would like my art to create in the viewer a sense a puzzlement, making him take a break for a moment to try to identify the bigger picture in the mix of shapes and colors. After all, this could be a moment of meditation about their own relationships and possible ways to improve them.
