ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Black grapes are one of my favorite subjects to paint because of the intricacies of the color changes on the surface of the fruit. This piece in particular is all about light, because the grapes themselves are so dark, and I had to use light to pull them from the background. The detail is subtle and hopefully helps to communicate the feeling of an embrace.

As a visual artist, I work mostly in acrylics. I have been drawing and painting my whole life and knew that I wanted to be an artist by the time I was five years old. I wanted to make what I thought was a stable career out of my passion by studying Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design. After earning my degree, however, I realized that painting was my true calling. I settled in the suburbs of Pittsburgh and began to paint images of the places and objects that have impacted me the most. I now focus on still life objects and foods that I have a great fondness for and nostalgic connection to. I find beauty in simple pleasures and I enjoy bringing them to life with striking light and contrast.
