Gratitude Mandala 3 Painting

I've worked as an artist since 1975: painting & drawing, using ceramics, wood and fibre for sculpture, earth for permanent site specific installation, and video for live art performance and 'artist’s moving image'. I also write poetry and create mixed genre works. Whilst my materials and techniques change, my themes remain constant. I'm interested in the relationship between sexuality & spirituality, and how we hold and navigate life-death tensions of our existence. Born of mixed heritage, I was initially educated in New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and UK. I’m influenced and inspired by diverse spiritual practices including Moire culture, Native American ritual and craft, Buddhist philosophy, Roman Catholic ceremony and iconography and embodied living Tantra. My 'Gratitude Mandalas' link closely to my personal spiritual practices of meditation, mindfulness, and loving kindness. It is my hope that my art works are enjoyed. I offer them as places of contemplation, where the viewer can find some peace, ease and clarity. Maybe they are invitations to dream; to dream into alternative viewpoints, so we can see things from fresh perspectives.
