ABOUT THE ARTWORK

“Gray No. 2” is a large abstract painting done in acrylic on a cotton canvas with a deep, gallery-style edge. There are many, many layers of paint in this work, and each layer was applied and worked with palette knives, rags, brushes and my hands. The texture that results from these modes of application gives much depth and movement to the work, allowing all the shades of gray—from dove gray to near black—to settle into the layer beneath in undulating intensities. There is a bright blue undercoat which shines through the predominantly gray body of the work, and the result is reminiscent of a stormy sky breaking apart. This is a very calming painting to look at, and the monochromatic color scheme in this work leans toward a minimal modernist feel. The overall measurements are 40 inches tall by 30 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep. The painting is signed in the lower right corner, and the work is signed, titled, and dated on the back. The edges of the canvas are painted black, and it is wired and ready to hang, but this work would look stunning in a shadow frame.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Singular events and emotions are the inspiration for many of my paintings. I believe that color more than anything will provoke a response to a painting. If I can achieve an emotional charge between the viewer and my work, then I have reached my goal. Not everyone will say that they appreciate or understand abstract art. I say, don't stare at a work of art and try and force yourself to see what you think should be there. Look at what you see and accept it. That is is your totally unique experience with any work of art. The works of great artists such as Gerhard Richter, Joan Mitchell, Barnett Newman, Ad Reinhardt, Albert Oehlen, Christian Hetzel and many others feed my love of art and drive me to continue expanding my style.
