This painting is inspired by nature and the way some animals blend into their environment. The colors are made in many different layers starting with tight tape offs and then layering more flowed and dripped ones on top. The last details are mainly highlights and little touch ups with a dry brush to bring out some contrast.

Jouke Schwarz is a multi-talented artist, making paintings, animations and installations of all sorts. Born 1984 in England to Scottish Dutch parents, Jouke Schwarz was raised in Chile in Latin America. After finishing high school in Santiago he headed north to La Serena to study oil painting under the tuition of Paz Alvial. He then moved to the Netherlands where he studied Audiovisual Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, graduating in 2011. Still based in Amsterdam, he is a full-time musician and artist. Finding his inspiration in nature and landscape, he paints mainly abstracts that constantly question time, space, the meaning of contour, absences and traces.
