About The Artwork
The Surrey Hills are know for their deep sunken lanes through sandy soil. These lanes follow ancient trackways between land holdings and follow the easiest contours that the animals that made them could find. If you get in close you see a different, less bucolic landscape. I was struck by the colours of these gnarled tree trunks and roots on an old boundary bank and the vivid drooling mosses. There was a slight suggestion of a Trifid like threat which I hope I have caught.
